The Time Will Come #23

Every Thursday, Jodie at Books For Company hosts The Time Will Come, a weekly meme in which we list a book that we really want to read or keep meaning to get to. These are mostly books that have been on the TBR shelf for awhile now but also they can be books that have just come into my home.  I have a massive to-read pile, it seems to be growing by the day.....

If you'd like to join in?
  • Pick a book you have been meaning to read
  • Do a post telling us about the book

Here is my choice for this weeks Time Will Come:

Goodreads Synopsis:

A tragic tale about falling in love on the world’s most infamous ill-fated sea voyage as heroine, Tess, discovers darker secrets that lie beneath the doomed crossing… and a hidden brotherhood that threaten to tear her lover from her forever.

The RMS Titanic is the most luxurious ship ever built, but for eighteen-year-old Tess Davies it’s a prison. Travelling as a maid for the family she has served for years, Tess is trapped in their employ amid painful memories and family secrets.

When she meets Alec, a handsome upper class passenger, Tess falls helplessly in love. But Alec has secrets of his own… and soon Tess is entangled in a dangerous game. A sinister brotherhood that will do anything to induct Alec into their mystical order has followed him onboard. And Tess is now their most powerful pawn.

Tess and Alec fight the dark forces threatening to tear them apart, never realising that they will have to face an even greater peril before the journey is over…

New York Times best-selling author Claudia Gray delivers adventure, dark paranormal suspense, alluring romance, and a truly surprise ending, set against the opulent backdrop of the Titanic's first — and last — voyage.

I've chosen Fateful this week because it stood out for me, it is a story that takes place on the Titanic.  The reason I've picked this book this week is that I went to the funeral of my Great Great Auntie Olive, she was 99 and a half when she passed away a few weeks ago.  She was born the same year the Titanic sank, 1912. She always said that the secret to her long life was porridge for breakfast every morning, so there we go....... the secret to a long life.

Right back to the book, I've not read any books by Claudia Gray before, but I think Fateful is a very clever twist on the story from the Titanic.  It has been on my shelf for a month now, I managed to pick this book up when I went for the Gail Carriger author signing.  A little book buying beforehand ;)
